SUSTAINABLE DESIGN
EWR TERMINAL ONE GENERATOR BUILDING
OCA Architects has completed design for the new Standby Generator Building, which will serve emergency needs for Terminal One, providing all backup power and telecommunication services. Located just south of the new Main Terminal's South Pier, the building will act as the "life support system" for Terminal One. The stand-alone 9,000 SF, one-story masonry building will provide all the essential emergency needs for the Main Terminal building, including all backup power and telecommunication services. It will house three diesel generator units, that will convert mechanical energy into electrical power. This electrical power will be the lifeline used to run all emergency and essential services for the Main Terminal, should the need arise.
