Early Learning Center #13

EARLY CHILDHOOD LEARNING CENTER #13

In his prior endeavor, OCA’s Principal served in the capacity of Principal-in-Charge for the design of Early Childhood Center #13, Jersey City, New Jersey.
Situated in a prominent neighborhood in the city, the proposed school was designed to serve as a focal point for the community. The
two story 51,000 square foot building was designed to accommodate 22 classrooms, administrative offices and multiple play areas.
The visual articulation of the
two story structure was accomplished using appropriate forms and colors to create an invigorating and fun place to learn. The design goal was to break the school down into small learning clusters, with age appropriate learning environments. The administrative suites was integrated into the floor plan to provide supervision and security. The outdoor playground design was articulated and separated into zones for passive and active activities incorporating the existing abandoned rail line behind the school as a learning tool.
