The New York City School Construction Authority (NYCSCA) has selected OCA Architects as the prime consultant for Project Q510, a transformative renovation of a former high school located in the College Point neighborhood of Queens. Originally constructed in 1959, the three-story brick building, situated on a T-shaped site with frontage on three streets, required extensive upgrades to meet modern standards and enhance its functionality.
The scope of the $62 million project included significant modifications to achieve ADA compliance, modernize outdated mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, and address other essential infrastructure needs. To execute this ambitious modernization, OCA Architects collaborated with a multidisciplinary team of experts, including civil and structural engineers, MEP specialists, vertical transportation consultants, food service designers, and sustainability professionals.
Eric Von Jones has been appointed as the site representative for this project, ensuring seamless coordination among stakeholders and maintaining the highest standards of quality throughout the renovation process. His leadership and expertise will play a vital role in the successful transformation of this facility into a state-of-the-art educational space.
